The Cape Town dahlia is a decorative dahlia known for its warm, sunset-like flower colors. It is grown mainly as an ornamental for borders, beds, and cut flowers.​  The blooms are fully double and rounded, often about tennis-ball size, typically around 3-4" across. Petals are bright yellow with red or burnt-orange brushing or streaking, giving a bicolor, “sunset” effect across the flower.​  Cape Town is classified as a decorative dahlia, meaning the flowers are full and layered rather than single or collarette types. Plants have a branching, spreading habit suited to mixed borders and can produce multiple flowering stems suitable for cutting.​  This variety is commonly recommended for sunny borders, containers, and cutting gardens, where its warm colors stand out from midsummer into autumn.
