Downham Royal is a miniature ball-type dahlia celebrated for its compact, elegant blooms and rich coloration. Flowers reach about 3 inches across, fully double with a neat ball shape featuring iridescent burgundy to deep wine-red petals that fade subtly to purple or violet at the center. This color gradient creates striking contrast, making it a standout for arrangements.
Plants grow to 36-44" tall with mid-green foliage, blooming reliably from mid-summer until frost. The sturdy stems and long vase life suit it well for hand-tied bouquets and cutting gardens.
Similar to Chimacum Del Blomma but shorter, it offers prolific flowering in deep magenta tones with blackish hints, ideal for borders or containers. Growers praise its hardiness as a cut flower.
