Tuberose ‘The Pearl’ (often written Polianthes tuberosa ‘The Pearl’ or Agave tuberosa ‘The Pearl’) is a double‑flowered form of the classic tuberose, grown for its very strong fragrance and creamy white blooms. The Pearl is a clumping bulb that sends up narrow, grass‑like green leaves from the base, with a tall, upright flower spike rising from the center. The foliage clump is usually around 10–18 inches tall, with flower stems about 24–36 inches (sometimes up to 3 feet) in height. This tuberosa has double (many petals and is very full, like miniature cream-white roses or gardenias stacked along the spike. The buds often open from soft pink to pale cream, maturing to white or creamy white. The blooms are waxy, tubular at the base, then flare into layered segments; flowers open gradually up the spike, mainly in summer to early fall. They have an extremely strong, sweet, and rich fragrance, one of the most powerfully scented garden flowers, especially at night.
