Acidanthera (correct spelling; often sold as Acidanthera murielae or Gladiolus murielae) is a summer‑flowering bulb with elegant white, star‑shaped blooms and a dark purple “eye” at the center of each flower. This plant has tall, slender stems 24–40 inches (60–100 cm) high rise above narrow, sword‑like green leaves. Each stem carries several nodding, funnel‑ or star‑shaped flowers that are bright white with a sharply contrasting deep purple or mahogany blotch at the throat. The flowers are fragrant, especially in the evening, and attract bees and other pollinators.
